The Miz over at FFODC made a wager with your humble editor regarding the outcome of the Pens/Caps game last Thursday. As per the rules of the bet, I will now allow him to guest post over here about his favorite player. The views expressed in the rest of this entry do not represent those of The North End Zone. In fact, they are pretty much exactly the opposite.

As an avid reader of The North End Zone, I know that the end of college football season can be a little tough for some of us. Fortunately for me, I have hockey to break my fall once bowl season comes to an end. So does C Gally. While he and I have the same taste in college football greatness, hockey is a bit of a sensitive subject between the two of us. You see, C Gally tends to support Pittsburgh franchises, and that includes one of my least favorite teams of all time, the Pittsburgh Penguins. How anybody can support a bunch of whiners with horse teeth is beyond me, but I digress.
More after the jump...
You have to understand that throughout my ~20 years of hockey fandom, the Pittsburgh Penguins have pretty much broken my heart more times than I can count. I loathe them...almost as much as (and sometimes more than) UVa, WVU, or...the Dallas Cowboys. Some of that pain is fresh after last season's heart-breaking Game 7 loss in the Eastern Conference semifinals. Now no regular season game can fix those open wounds, but it's still fun when the Caps beat the Pens.
Thursday afternoon, C Gally and I made a little wager on the outcome of the game. Winner gets to post on the losers blog, gushing about their favorite player, and basically rubbing it in...so here I am.
There are only so many things I can say about how wonderful Alex Ovechkin is. He's EASILY the best hockey player in the world, and will ultimately lead his team to a championship at some point in his career. Ovechkin is the consummate leader, a ferocious (not at all dirty) hitter, and the most lethal sniper that the game has seen in some time. However, my words don't do justice to how amazing this guy is. He is he the two-time reigning MVP and Richard winner, an Art Ross winner, a Calder trophy winner, and Sidney Crosby really just cannot hold his jock. With that, I leave you with a few montages to show you JUST how great AO really is. Enjoy watching the most dynamic player on the planet...
