snowpocalypse

So I got this picture from Gawker.com.  Someone who lives in DC took a picture today of their local supermarket refrigerated section.  Unreal.

I mean come on.  I know you guys are supposed to get a bunch of snow and whatnot, and the town workers aren't very educated in the art of removing snow, but this is ridiculous.  It's not the apocalypse.  Worst case scenario:  you guys get a little more than two feet of snow, the roads are impassable for two days, and the weather warms up and everything goes back to normal.  I promise you all, you will not starve.  My wife's mother has a friggin' basement full of food on a regular basis, and yet with the threat of Snowmageddon, she freaks out, goes to the store, and buys an entire cow.  She's not alone.  Everyone does it.  Well, everyone in the DC area.

Now you might think that I'm being a dick and don't understand how bad these snowstorms can be.  May I remind you that I grew up in New England and currently live in New York.  I know snow.  If anything, we always bought more beer before a snowstorm, because our wonderful Blue Laws prevented us from getting it on Sundays or after 9PM.  So we had to get the full load for the weekend.  Same thing in Blacksburg.  Granted we never got a ton of snow there, but the people are just as retarded when it comes to clearing snow and ice as they are in DC, if not more.  But the supermarkets were never this empty. Except the beer sections.

So what's the point of this post?  I don't really know.  I haven't posted in awhile so I figured I'd throw something out there.  Well that and the fact that you need to man up DC.  It's just snow.  Pussies.

And I do have a fridge full of beer, four pounds of bacon, and a copy of Varisty Blues. This weekend is gonna rock.

North.. you will be proud that I am keeping the hokie tradition alive and well here in Northern Va.. the night before the storm started i went to the store at around 10pm and got a case of beer, 2 frozen pizzas, and cheez-its.. (i too saw the empty shelves where eggs, milk, and bread used to be oh and hot dogs too) managed to crush the case last night and wander through a foot and a half of snow to the nearest 7-11 to get more beer and nachos.

not all of us freak out cause of snow.

Well at least DC can handle ice better this year (so far). Pens and Bruins can suck it.
