Thoughts leading up to the CFA Bowl

Well the big day is tomorrow, and I’m getting more nervous by the minute.  Not that I don’t have confidence in our team, I just get nervous before big meaningful events.  And this game is a meaningful event.  More after the jumperino.

The chips (historically) are stacked against us, because we haven’t beaten an SEC opponent since… wait for it… 2002.  And that was LSU.  Also we haven’t won in Atlanta yet this year, so that’s wonderful as well.  Oh and the last time we played in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl, we lost to Georgia 31-24 after leading 21-6 midway through the third.  And did I mention that the ACC has lost the last four CFA Bowls?

So yeah, we don’t have too much going for us right now.  Except for this guy:

Also, third time is a charm, right?  Add to that, that Kam Chanellor had this to say:

“It’s a lot of pride to this game.  Statistically, you see SEC teams over the top of ACC teams every year. It’ll be good for an ACC team to come out on top for once.”

Pride and confidence.  Not always a good combination.  That is, until you mix it wil hard work, skill, and being really really pissed off.  A superhero at the running back position and a manbear for a DC help as well.

This will be a tough game, but I feel good about this team.  They seem like they want have to win this game.  It’s a matchup for the ages, and one that will be talked about right up until the next time UT and Tech meet.  So this one is for all the marbles.  So what if we don’t get to play Iowa in the Orange Bowl?  That game would suck.  This is where it’s at.

This chips may be stacked against us, but fuck it, let’s go all in.

Gobble gobble, bitches.
