Welcome to the Danger Zone

Here we are, May 18th. Summer is on the way, which is nice. However, a more darker side of the summer time is also on the way. This, of course, is the 3 month sports blackout.

Now there's definitely some sports going-ons in the summer, but really nothing to make more than a slight glance at. Hockey and NBA playoffs will be over. No football until the end of August. Meaningless baseball games. (Seriously, what was the last summer baseball game to make a difference? Are you really going to devote 3 hours each night to watching a game thatcounts as 1/162 of your team's record?) The World Cup only helps out once every 4 years.

So what are we to do in this Dark Ages of sports?

1. DVDs -- By far the best technological invention to happen to television. I'll take it even over HD Nascar. You are telling me I can have 200 Simpsons episodes, 150 Seinfeld episodes, all the seasons of The Office, and everyFamily Guy? Explain to me again why I need to leave the couch?

2. Go to baseball games -- Nothing makes a meaningless game meaningful than being there having meaningless conversation with your meaningless thoughtful jerk friends.

3. Go to movies -- Nothing says you care about your lady than taking her somewhere where you don't have to look at or talk to each other.

4. Read a book -- Hahahaha, sorry Mom. Not falling for that one.

5. Get a job -- (see "Read a book" above)

So there you go. Hopefully these wonderful suggestions should get you through the 3 months of the football-shakes.
